New authors, old series

So, first it was Sebastian Faulks, who wrote Devil May Care, a new book in Ian Fleming's James Bond series. Now we have Eoin Colfer, who was tapped to write the sixth book in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series.

What series and what author do you think will be next?

ETA:Sassymonkey wrote "[T]here's a new Winnie The Pooh book too (clearly not written by Milne)," which for some reason reminded me of all the Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice continuations (I won't read them, no matter how good you tell me they are).

ETA 2: Thank you Tor/Forge, for reminding me about The Gathering Storm, which has Brandon Sanderson finishing/completing Robert Jordan’s Book 12 in the Wheel of Time series.

ETA 3: Looks like I'm not the only person musing on this subject these days. Bookninja put up a post on this subject as well (found via Books, Inq.), which linked to a recent article written by the Washington Post.

And there's a new Winnie The Pooh book too (clearly not written by Milne). Everything old is new again and I'm not really sure that I approve.

I don't think I agree with it, on principal, either. Movies, songs, books... why can't we just let things stay as they were without trying to make them "better?"

Ha! It made me think of all the P&P stuff too. Though I have to say, the first and third books of Pamela Aiden's series were pretty good (didn't really like the second) but they weren't so much a continuation... They tell the story from Darcy's point of view. Actually quite well done.

You can't see me right now, but I've got my eyes closed and my hands over my ears. (Made typing difficult, let me tell you!)

Quite a few different people have told me the same thing, but I just can't bring myself to read them. Actually I won't read any continuation with a new author, not if it's of a book or series that I really loved.

I am not sure I agree with some of the continuing of series by other authors...

Kaliana: Because you don't like the way they take the series or because you don't like the author? Or because you think that "if it's not broke, don't fix it," like me?
